Author and Educator

About Elisabeth…

Elisabeth Sherriff is a part-time writer and qualified teacher, and is currently working as a learning support assistant in a small primary school in Suffolk. Elisabeth has almost three decades of experience of working in mainstream primary and secondary schools. She studied Spanish and Linguistics at Exeter University, and has always been passionate about different aspects of language and language acquisition. She is also an avid learner of other languages from around the world. Elisabeth finds great pleasure in engaging and inspiring children in reading and writing, particularly through reading texts out loud.

When not busy writing or teaching, she can be found rambling around the countryside with her family, nurturing her garden or with her head stuck in a good book.

Elisabeth has dabbled in various genres of writing all her life but only recently decided to make her writing public. Elisabeth’s first title was Celandine’s Gift, a children’s book published in 2022. Subsequently, she joined the Suffolk Writers Group, which inspired her to share some of her poetry. Don’t Let the Peas Touch the Mash, a support book for autistic children and their families, was her first published collection of poems. Elisabeth has since published three further collections of poetry. In My Daydreams is a support book for children who are dealing with the loss of a close relative. Bits in the Jam is aimed at children who have ARFID (avoidant/ restrictive food intake disorder), often associated with autism. Elisabeth’s most recent poetry book is Moon Dust, a collection of poignant, humorous and moving poems for children. Ben and Daisy, the story of autistic Ben and his sister was published in 2025. Told in Daisy’s voice, we hear of the challenges and the wonders of autism. Bob and Rick is Elisabeth’s most recent book. This poignant tale explores how it is okay to feel sad sometimes.
